Welcome to Father Champlin's Guardian Angel Society

Background

The Guardian Angel Society began in 1997 to raise funds which provided Cathedral

School's students with tuition assistance, enhanced its technology, and supported

graduates in continuing education on the junior and senior high school levels. Since its

inception, it has raised $1.8 million.

Today

With the consolidation of Cathedral School and Our Lady of Pompei to form the Cathedral Academy at Pompei (CAP),

Father Champlin's Guardian Angel Society, a separate operating entity, will continue but expand its efforts to support this larger student body.

The funds will help those from below poverty level homes to attend CAP. For the

2009-2010 academic year, about 70 of the 100 students will receive Guardian Angel Financial assistance.

We estimate the total cost of this assistance to the Society will be $125,000.

The Society will continue to support Cathedral Academy at Pompei graduates in junior and senior

high schools. For the 2009-2010 academic year, twenty-seven are receiving such Guardian Angel

scholarships with the total cost to the Society at $28,000.

Funds are available for those CAP graduates that meet the necessary criteria

SUCCESS

More than a dozen years ago, many of Cathedral School graduates never finished high

school. Today, about two dozen, with Guardian Angel help, are at local junior and

senior high schools, Bishop Grimes, Bishop Ludden as well as Christian Brothers

Academy. Moreover, three are now in their junior year at Georgetown, Notre Dame and

Syracuse University and three have begun their first year at Brockport, Clarkson, and Pittsburgh.

MENTORS

Each week over three dozen adult mentors come to the school and work for 30-60 minutes

with our students for an entire year. These encounters have had a very positive impact upon

our boys and girls.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

In addition to specific memorials, grants and donations, the Guardian Angel Society sponsors

five major fundraisers: Sweet Cabaret in February, Camillus Memorial Day Race, August

Golf Tournament, Monte Carlo Night in the Fall, and Christmas Cards. All of
